Daisy Patch Crochet Pattern

These daisies are super fun to make and really easy for beginners! I make mine into super cute earrings like these, but they can also be used for other things such as patches or keychains…

There are some simple instructions at the end of the pattern on how to turn your daisy into a bookmark!

What I used:

  • Yellow and white yarn
  • 4.50mm hook

Your daisies size depends on the yarn weight and hook size, the above is what I used to get the size in the pictures. Each comma in the pattern instructions represents a new stitch, the brackets indicate that the crochets are going in the same stitch.

STITCHES (US):

  • Single Crochet (SC)
  • Slip Stitch (SLST)
  • Treble Crochet (TR)

ROUND 1 – THE YELLOW CENTER

Start by making a magic loop, or ch4, slst into first stitch to make ring.

Make 10 sc in the loop.

Pull on the short tail to close the loop and slst into the first single crochet to make the small circle. Don’t cut the tail as you will need to use it to secure the yellow part later.

ROUND 2

(ch1, sc), then add 1 sc in each stitch until you reach the end.

You should have 15 stitches all together.

slst into the first crochet, this part can look a little confusing if you’re a beginner, see the images below:

Cut the yarn, and leave a tail to tie with the one you left in the first round. The tails that are left can be crocheted around as you do the petals to make it extra secure.

ROUND 3 – THE PETALS

Take your white yarn and tie it onto any of the stitches on the edge, then ch4 and make 4 treble crochets – all of them in the same stitch.

then (ch4, slst), (slst, ch4)this makes the end to the first petal and starts the next one.

(tr4, ch4), slst, (slst, ch4)… repeat until you have 5 petals.

When you reach the last chain slip stitch into the base of the first petal and trim the white yarn. Tie the two white tails together – for extra hold I put a blob of textile glue on the knot and tie the tails together again, pressing to make sure the glue adheres before trimming the tails.

make you daisy into a bookmark:

Attach some green yarn between one of the petals and chain a length to turn your daisy into a bookmark!

To create a little leaf, start making your chains, then when you get to the point where you want your leaf, make a slip stitch up a few chains before continuing.

About

Heya, Ina here! I’m who’s writing the words you’re reading…

I grew up in the Balkan mountains, where knowledge of herbs and wild plants was just part of everyday life, passed down through the people and landscapes around me. These days I write about herbalism and slow living, woven with folklore, magick, and spirituality, – and the occasional cozy crochet pattern – from my little corner of the internet.

I hope you find something here that brings you joy <3
